The person going bankrupt is basically going bankrupt or doing a consumer proposal, that’s one of the big thing that they are trying to stop that garnishee. A bankruptcy and consumer proposal will do that but isn’t going to stop if we don’t tell the employer to stop it. Yes, the employer would get notified in that case. The other thing I can think of is offhand, and where we would have this kind of contact with an employer, is if we had to contact an employer to find out some information that is of important to the creditors. Like for instance, say you have a profit sharing plan at work, and your employer is the only one who has the details of it, the profit sharing might be money that belongs to the creditors in a bankruptcy, you see the trustee has to verify this information. Now, there are different ways of verifying it, we might be able to verify it by having you get the information and providing it to us so there is no direct contact with your employer. We prefer to do it that way as long as we can get the facts. Generally speaking, an employer is not, I can’t even remember the last time that we contacted an employer when there was no garnishee involved.

If you are uneasy about bankruptcy you should definitely visit a licensed insolvency trustee so that you will be given an advice about your bankruptcy problems.

We can meet with you during business hours or book after hours appointments if that is more convenient.

Contact us for a fresh start 1 (888) 545-5365
Live your life free of financial stress!

Follow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/killen_trustee/
Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/Killen_Trustee
Follow us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/rkillenassociates
Follow us on Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/company/richard-killen-&-associates/
Connect on Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/richard-killen-020aaaba/

Richard Killen and Associates have 10 locations across the Greater Toronto Area.

Our main office is at

Richard Killen & Associates
2130 Lawrence Ave
East Suite 402, M1R 3A6
Tel: (416) 285-9511
http://rkillen.ca
https://i.ytimg.com/vi/OKT1UHhFd7U/default.jpg","https://i.ytimg.com/vi/OKT1UHhFd7U/mqdefault.jpg","https://i.ytimg.com/vi/OKT1UHhFd7U/hqdefault.jpg","https://i.ytimg.com/vi/OKT1UHhFd7U/sddefault.jpg","https://i.ytimg.com/vi/OKT1UHhFd7U/maxresdefault.jpg
{"@type":"Organization","@id":"https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVqfGDwXy-OK5RHKZGkaMUw#Organization
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVqfGDwXy-OK5RHKZGkaMUw
Richard Killen & Associates Ltd
Since 1992 we at Richard Killen & Associates have helped thousands of people resolve their financial problems. They are ordered by the court to seize your wages or payment and surrender it to settle a claim or debt. How much can the government garnish your wages in Canada?Once they have the right to do it, a garnishee can take from 20% up to 30% of your gross wages. If you are self-employed, they might seize all of your receivables. If you are a contract worker, they can garnish up to 100% of your income. However, there is a limit on how much a creditor can take from your income or bank account. The government may propose exemptions and additional protection to safeguard your earnings and bank balance for certain situations. An example of this is if you are the head of the household and have dependent children. Can wage garnishment be stopped? To stop this cold, or prevent it from happening in the first place, it is best to act quickly. The first step to take is to talk to a licensed insolvency trustee. A trustee can explain it all to you and make it happen.
